18 Seconds
Genre: Cinematic Post-Rock
18 Seconds is the solo project of musician and composer Pascal Normand from Quebec (Bas-St-Laurent). Almost entirely instrumental, his music speaks the language of raw emotion: cinematic soundscapes where intensity and fragility, light and darkness, constantly intertwine.
Influenced as much by the abrasive guitars of Smashing Pumpkins as by the post-rock epics of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Normand released his debut EP When Fog Dissipates in 2013.
On October 3, 2025, 18 Seconds will unveil Plat de résistance, his sixth release and most accomplished work to date. Darker and more visceral than ever, the album frames music as an act of resistance: resistance to war, to the rise of violence and intolerance, to fascism, and to the dehumanization of a world losing its way. Balancing cathartic intensity with moments of suspended grace, Plat de résistance stands as a sonic fresco that is at once apocalyptic and deeply human.
